The Art of Healing:

Reclaiming Self after Cancer

This three-part workshop series offers women an opportunity to reconnect with creativity after cancer, develop greater awareness of their personal strengths, and explore the changing priorities that often follow treatment. Through simple mindfulness and body-awareness practices, collage, and visual storytelling, participants will be supported in expressing their experiences, connecting with others who share similar journeys, identifying practical wellbeing strategies, and cultivating hope and self-care for the future.

The workshops will take place at The Walmer Manor, 39 Water Road, Walmer, Gqeberha, during October 2026. Session 1, Recognising Self, will be held on 8 October; Session 2, Making Meaning, on 15 October; and Session 3, Emerging Stories, on 22 October.

The investment is R1,500, which includes all three workshops, refreshments, and materials.

In collaboration with Imajen, we present The Art of Healing: Reclaiming Self after Cancer. This workshop series offers 3 workshops over the course of 3 weeks, providing female cancer survivors with a supportive, non-clinical space to pause, reflect and reconnect with themselves through collage, mindful awareness and shared conversation. Using creativity as a tool for self-expression, participants are invited to reflect on their experiences, recognise personal strengths and explore what wellbeing means for them now. The programme is educational, experiential and reflective rather than therapeutic and does not replace psychological counselling or psychotherapy.

Over the course of the 3 weeks, each workshop will provide opportunities to

  • Reconnect with creativity after cancer

  • Develop greater awareness of personal strengths

  • Explore changing priorities following treatment

  • Practise simple mindfulness and body awareness activities

  • Express experiences through collage and visual storytelling

  • Connect with others who share similar experiences

  • Identify practical wellbeing strategies

  • Cultivate hope and self-care moving forward
